Saudi Security Chief: Unyielding In The Fight Against Drug Smugglers To Safeguard Youth
The Director of Public Security, Lieutenant General Mohammad bin Abdullah Al-Bassami, highlighted the global crisis posed by drugs, psychotropic substances, and toxins. These issues transcend borders and significantly affect security, politics, society, and the economy in both developed and developing nations. They often lead to various criminal activities and financial crimes.
On June 26, the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Al-Bassami underscored the government's commitment to tackling drug-related issues. Under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, efforts are focused on protecting citizens' rights and national resources. The government is determined to counter threats to national security and prevent any attempts to corrupt the minds of its people.

Al-Bassami emphasized that these challenges persist amid rapid global changes and continuous developments. He noted that drugs increasingly impact various aspects of life—security, political, social, and economic—in both developed and developing societies.
The security campaign against drugs is directed by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. It is overseen by Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz. This campaign has shown tangible positive results in combating drug dealers and smugglers. It demonstrates a strong resolve to eradicate this issue.
Al-Bassami stressed the commitment of security forces to preventing drug smugglers and dealers from targeting Saudi youth or compromising national security. He urged all segments of society to remain vigilant about the dangers posed by drugs.
Community Involvement in Drug Prevention
He called on everyone to support official efforts against drugs and contribute in every possible way to confronting its challenges. Protecting communities and youth from harmful impacts is a collective responsibility.
Al-Bassami expressed optimism that this occasion would enhance awareness about the dangers of drugs. He hopes it will help safeguard humanity from their tragic consequences.
"The leadership has prioritized protecting citizens, safeguarding their rights, and preserving national resources," he said. "We must firmly counter any threats to national security."
"The security campaign has yielded tangible positive results in combating drug dealers," he added. "It shows our resolute determination to eradicate this issue."
"I call on all segments of society to remain vigilant," Al-Bassami urged. "Support official efforts against drugs and contribute in every possible way."
