Saudi Students From Mawhiba To Compete At ISEF 2024 In Los Angeles
Riyadh, SPA – A team of Saudi Arabia's brightest young minds embarked on a journey from Riyadh to Los Angeles on Wednesday, aiming to showcase their scientific prowess at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF 2024). Scheduled from May 10 to 18, this event stands as the globe's most significant pre-college competition in the realms of scientific research and innovation. The contingent, comprising 35 talented Saudi female and male students from the King Abdulaziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity -- "Mawhiba," is set to compete against 1,700 participants from 70 countries.
Mawhiba highlighted that these students represent the cream of the crop, having been selected from over 210,000 aspirants across various regions of the Kingdom at the year's start. Their journey to ISEF was marked by rigorous evaluations during the "Ibdaa" National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity, culminating in the selection of 35 students from the 45 finalists. These students have undergone extensive training by both Saudi and international academic trainers and experts across different fields, a testament to the collaborative efforts of national incubators, universities, research centers, and the unwavering support of parents, families, and teachers.

As a principal sponsor of ISEF 2024, represented by Mawhiba, Saudi Arabia not only showcases its young talent but also offers special prizes in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). These prizes include paid scholarships for undergraduate studies at the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals and participation in the Mawhiba Universal Enrichment Program.
The Kingdom's participation in ISEF marks its 18th consecutive year, reflecting an enduring commitment to fostering innovation and scientific excellence among its youth. Since 2007, Saudi students have amassed an impressive tally of 133 awards at ISEF, comprising 92 grand prizes and 41 special distinctions. This record is a clear indication of Saudi Arabia's successful endeavors in nurturing a culture of innovation and securing its position on the global stage of scientific competitions.
