Saudi Reef Reaffirms Commitment To Small-Scale Fishermen At SIMEC 2025 Event

The Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program, known as Saudi Reef, is dedicated to aiding small-scale fishermen in various coastal areas. This initiative aims to ensure the sustainability of the fisheries sector in Saudi Arabia and satisfy local market demands. The program's involvement in the Saudi International Marine Exhibition (SIMEC 2025) underscores its commitment to this cause.

Majed Al-Buraikan, Assistant Secretary General for Media and Communication at Saudi Reef, stated that their participation in SIMEC 2025 aligns with their strategy to support small-scale fishermen. The event will take place from February 3 to 5 at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center. Al-Buraikan emphasized the program's crucial role in offering financial and training programs to enhance productivity and income levels.

Saudi Reef Supports Fishermen at SIMEC 2025

Saudi Reef has been instrumental in supporting fishermen across coastal regions such as Makkah, Madinah, the Eastern Region, Aseer, Jazan, and Tabuk. By doing so, it helps them meet market demands effectively while contributing sustainably to the national economy. The program has assisted around 2,000 fishermen in developing their businesses.

Additionally, more than 5,000 fishing trips have been financed to boost local fish production. This financial support has surpassed SAR1 million, highlighting Saudi Reef's dedication to advancing the maritime sector and enhancing food security. "The total financial support has exceeded SAR1 million," Al-Buraikan pointed out.

Saudi Reef's participation as a gold sponsor at SIMEC 2025 reflects its leading role in supporting and financing the small-scale fishing sector. The program's ongoing efforts in training and qualifying fishermen align with Saudi Vision 2030’s objectives for achieving food security. These initiatives demonstrate a commitment to fostering sustainable development within the Kingdom.

The program continues to focus on empowering small-scale fishermen by providing necessary resources and training. This approach not only boosts productivity but also improves income levels for those involved in the fishing industry. Through these efforts, Saudi Reef contributes significantly to both local economic growth and environmental sustainability.

By participating actively in events like SIMEC 2025, Saudi Reef showcases its dedication to enhancing capabilities within the fisheries sector. This involvement ensures that small-scale fishermen receive adequate support to thrive in an ever-evolving market landscape while adhering to national goals for sustainable development.
