Saudi Red Sea Authority And GEOSA Collaborate On First Nautical Chart For Sindalah Island

The Saudi Red Sea Authority (SRSA) and the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA) have joined forces to create the first high-resolution nautical chart of Sindalah Island in the NEOM region. This initiative aligns with international standards, including those set by the International Hydrographic Organization. Additionally, four other maps of the NEOM region have been developed through this collaboration.

GEOSA has ensured that these charts meet the highest standards, incorporating data on depths, coral reefs, islands, navigation hazards, and tidal information. This effort aims to enhance marine safety along Saudi Arabia's coasts and support informed decision-making. The charts provide secure geospatial marine data crucial for planning and development efforts aligned with Saudi Vision 2030.

New Nautical Chart for Sindalah Island Released

The SRSA initiated this collaboration as part of its mandate to identify and update navigation routes within Saudi Arabia's geographical scope. This includes coordinating with relevant entities to ensure environmental protection. By applying top security and safety standards through buoys and navigational aids, marine safety and environmental protection are significantly enhanced.

These navigational charts are expected to attract investments in coastal tourism by providing reliable data for easy entry and exit of yachts and other watercraft to Sindalah Island and nearby areas. The SRSA began its journey in 2021 to build and regulate the coastal tourism sector by issuing licenses, developing policies, determining infrastructure needs, preserving the marine environment, enabling investment, and promoting marine tourism activities.

GEOSA is actively working to regulate surveying and geospatial information sectors in Saudi Arabia. This includes adopting national geospatial infrastructure, developing national geodetic references, conducting hydrographic surveys, and providing essential data products like electronic applications, topographic maps, aerial maps, and maritime navigation charts.

The collaboration between SRSA and GEOSA not only supports smart decision-making but also aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 by facilitating investment attraction in coastal tourism. These efforts contribute added value to the national economy while ensuring safe navigation for marine activities.

By integrating these initiatives with relevant entities, both authorities aim to enhance the integration of coastal tourism activities. This will reflect positively on the national economy by promoting sustainable development in line with strategic goals.
