Saudi Red Sea Authority Upskills Over 1,000 In Coastal Tourism Sector

The Saudi Red Sea Authority (SRSA) and the Ministry of Tourism have launched two initiatives to train staff for luxury coastal resorts and travel agencies. These initiatives aim to align with top international standards.

One initiative trained 1,059 individuals involved in significant Red Sea tourism projects like Red Sea Global, Cruise Saudi, and NEOM. This training emphasised customer service and safety principles as part of the second edition of the Tourism Trailblazers Program.

1,000+ Trained in Coastal Tourism

The other initiative sought to enhance public and private sector integration. The ministry and SRSA collaborated to select elite human resources from luxury coastal resorts and marine agents organising luxury cruise trips.

Selected participants underwent specialised training on a European cruise liner. This program was accredited by the University of Plymouth, in partnership with Dale Carnegie UK, and supervised by Umm Al-Qura University. The training aimed to equip trainees with hospitality skills and guest service expertise.

The initiatives reflect the Ministry of Tourism’s and SRSA’s dedication to developing national talent in coastal tourism. They play a crucial role in establishing Saudi Arabia's Red Sea coast as a premier coastal tourism destination.

Long-Term Goals for Job Creation

SRSA aims to create over 210,000 jobs by 2030. Additionally, they plan to contribute more than SAR85 billion to the GDP that same year.

These efforts underscore the commitment to enhancing the hospitality sector's quality and ensuring it meets global standards. By focusing on training and development, SRSA is paving the way for a thriving coastal tourism industry in Saudi Arabia.
