Saudi Red Crescent Authority Implements Effective Ramadan Emergency Plan In Makkah

The Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) has effectively executed its emergency response plan during the holy month of Ramadan, ensuring comprehensive medical coverage in Makkah, particularly around the Grand Mosque. This strategic deployment included both ground and air ambulance services, aimed at providing immediate medical assistance to the pilgrims.

As part of this extensive operation, SRCA mobilized over 1,000 paramedics, emergency medical specialists, and doctors. This team was further bolstered by 18 medical control physicians and a remarkable volunteer force of 5,400 individuals from both genders, contributing a total of 65,000 hours of service. The dedication and hard work of these volunteers and professionals underscored the SRCA's commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of the pilgrims.

The scale of this operation is highlighted by the more than 47,000 ambulance trips made during Ramadan. Medical centers in Makkah led the response efforts, handling 33,561 cases. Jeddah and Taif followed, with 10,193 and 3,882 cases respectively. Additionally, the air ambulance service played a crucial role in this extensive healthcare network, completing 32 and a half hours of flights to various medical care centers and transporting 14 serious cases.

Supporting these efforts was a fleet comprising over 80 ambulances equipped with the latest medical devices. The operation also utilized 150 electric scooters, motorcycles and bicycles, along with 24 golf carts for swift movement within crowded areas. Moreover, the deployment of 49 defibrillators and 15 cardiopulmonary resuscitation devices ensured that emergency teams were well-prepared to handle critical situations.

Specialized teams focused on rapid response, event and crisis management were integral to the operation. These teams maintained constant communication with the command, control, and medical relay center through audio and video links, ensuring a coordinated and efficient response to emergencies.
