Saudi Red Crescent Enhances Medical Services With Over 120 Ambulance Units For Pilgrims In Makkah
The Saudi Red Crescent Authority has increased its readiness in Makkah to deliver top-notch ambulance services for pilgrims during the 1446 AH Hajj season. Over 120 ambulance units are operational around the clock, supplemented by more than 100 support vehicles. This deployment aims to ensure swift medical response and enhance safety for pilgrims.
In Makkah, the authority has strategically positioned 80 ambulance units across key areas: 45 in the northeast and west, 15 in the south, and 20 in the central region. These units are part of a broader effort to maintain high levels of preparedness for any potential emergencies or crises that may arise during the pilgrimage.

More than 160 emergency medical technicians are actively participating in these operations. They are supported by over 100 ambulances, 12 motorized emergency vehicles, and three golf carts equipped with emergency medical gear. These resources are crucial for providing immediate medical assistance, especially in areas with restricted access.
At the Grand Mosque, over 30 emergency units have been deployed to manage high-density areas effectively. Seven teams are stationed in the Masa’a and Saudi Corridor, eight teams cover the Masa’a and eastern courtyards, while ten teams operate in the western and southern courtyards. Additionally, two teams are positioned in the third Saudi expansion.
The authority's efforts are bolstered by more than 550 male and female volunteers distributed across over 200 units operating continuously. These volunteers specialize in emergency medical support and play a vital role in assisting high-traffic areas throughout Makkah.
To ensure rapid response to emergencies within crowded zones, more than 60 paramedics staff these units at the Grand Mosque. They are aided by 16 medical golf carts designed for quick maneuverability in congested spaces.
This comprehensive system is part of a coordinated initiative involving various government entities. The goal is to enhance medical transport safety and provide optimal services for pilgrims during their spiritual journey.
These measures reflect a concerted effort to maintain readiness for any unforeseen situations while ensuring that pilgrims receive timely medical care when needed.
