Saudi Red Crescent Ramps Up Emergency Services For Ramadan At Grand Mosque

Makkah, SPA – In preparation for Ramadan, the Saudi Red Crescent Authority in the Makkah region has announced its readiness to provide emergency services to visitors of the Grand Mosque. Dr. Mustafa Baljoun, the Director of the Authority’s Makkah branch, outlined a detailed plan designed to ensure the safety and well-being of worshippers during this holy month.

The comprehensive strategy includes the deployment of more than 35 ambulance centers strategically located around the Grand Mosque. This network comprises six centers within the mosque premises, 21 internal centers, and eight external ones. To support these operations, over 80 ambulances equipped with advanced medical devices have been prepared. These ambulances are part of a larger emergency response system that includes seven crisis management vehicles, 150 bicycles and scooters, 10 motorcycles, and 14 golf carts for efficient transportation within the Holy Mosque courtyards.

Enhanced Emergency Services for Ramadan

Dr. Baljoun emphasized the role of human resources in this extensive plan, noting that around 887 employees will be involved in emergency services. Additionally, 900 male and female volunteers from the Red Crescent Authority will lend their support to ensure the smooth execution of this initiative. The primary goal is to provide optimal emergency responses and medical support services throughout Ramadan, focusing on the Two Holy Mosques and their surrounding areas.

The plan also aims to activate the volunteer system by engaging the nation’s youth in enhancing emergency medical services. This approach not only aids in delivering critical care but also fosters a sense of community and responsibility among young Saudis.

Special attention is given to managing critical emergency cases during religious rituals, where prompt medical intervention or rapid transportation to the nearest health facility at the Grand Mosque is crucial. To address this, emergency teams will ramp up their services during the last ten days of Ramadan, a period known for increased worshipper density. This escalation of services will be coordinated with relevant authorities to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.

The Saudi Red Crescent Authority's plan for Ramadan underscores its commitment to safeguarding the health and safety of Grand Mosque visitors. By leveraging advanced medical facilities, a comprehensive network of emergency services, and the dedication of employees and volunteers, the Authority aims to provide a secure environment for worshippers during one of Islam’s most sacred months.
