A national Quran memorisation and recitation competition in Albania has reached its final rounds. A total of 120 boys and girls are competing in memorisation and recitation. Saudi Arabia runs programmes that support learning, accurate recitation and understanding of the Holy Quran.

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance organised the event through the Religious Attaché at the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The ministry worked with the Muslim Community of Albania.

Saudi Leads Quran Final in Albania

Contestants competed in three levels. The categories covered memorisation of two, five and ten parts of the Holy Quran. A specialised judging committee assessed precision, recitation quality and adherence to recognised rules of tajweed and performance.

These finals took place at Bedër University in Tirana, the capital of the Republic of Albania. The competition was held on 26 and 27 January. The event drew male and female participants from regions that had advanced through qualifying stages.

Organisers scheduled the closing ceremony and prize distribution for Wednesday. Attendance is expected from Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Albania Faisal bin Ghazi Hifzi. Grand Mufti and Chairman of the Muslim Community of Albania Bujar Spahiu will attend, alongside several official and religious figures.

This competition forms one element of wider ministry programmes. The initiatives are designed to encourage young people to memorise, recite and contemplate the Holy Quran. They also highlight teachings of moderation and balance, which are central to Saudi Arabia’s approach to religious education.

Through events like the Albanian Quran memorisation and recitation competition, the ministry continues efforts to support memorizers worldwide. The ministry works to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s Quranic presence abroad. Local partnerships are aligned with the Kingdom’s service to Islam and Muslims.
