Saudi Press Agency Achieves Recognition At 2025 Arab Media Excellence Awards In Two Categories

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) achieved recognition for its outstanding contributions in media by securing awards for best photograph and best investigative report at the Arab Media Excellence Awards. This event, in its ninth edition, took place during the 55th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo. The theme focused on "Arab youth and new media."

Winners were announced with Khalid Al-Ghamdi, who leads the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, and Saudi Arabia's Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Ambassador Abdulaziz Al-Matar, present. SPA's photographer Faisal Al-Wehimer received acclaim for his digital image, while journalist Bandary Hobrom was honoured for her investigative report titled "Digital Media's Ascendancy: Youth Information Sources and the Evolving Media Landscape."

SPA Wins Two Awards at Arab Media Event

In addition to SPA's achievements, the council acknowledged several notable media personalities. These included Khalid Al Malik, Editor in Chief of Al-Jazirah newspaper; Ahmed Assaf, General Supervisor of Official Palestinian Media; Ali bin Saleh Al Sada, Director of Qatar TV; and Ibrahim Yaqoub from Kuwait’s Ministry of Information.

The awards were presented by key figures such as Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the League of Arab States; Hamza Al-Mustafa, Syria's Minister of Information; Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, Kuwait's Minister of Information; and Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, Assistant Secretary General and Supervisor of the Media and Communication Sector at the Arab League.

This prestigious event highlighted the significant role that young Arabs play in shaping new media landscapes. It also underscored how digital platforms are becoming primary sources of information for youth across the region.

Recognising excellence in media not only celebrates individual achievements but also encourages further innovation and dedication within the industry. The awards serve as a testament to the evolving nature of media in an increasingly digital world.
