The seventh session of the Saudi-Portuguese Joint Committee wrapped up in Riyadh on Monday, marking a significant step in enhancing cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Portugal across various sectors. The meeting was led by Faisal Alibrahim, Saudi Minister of Economy and Planning, and Manuel Castro Almeida, Portuguese Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion. Representatives from both government and private sectors attended the event.
The two-day visit featured bilateral meetings, joint government sessions, and the Saudi-Portuguese Business and Investment Forum. This forum was part of the committee's activities aimed at exploring investment opportunities and strengthening economic ties between the two nations. Alibrahim highlighted the importance of tangible outcomes in his opening remarks, stating, "The success of this committee will be measured not only by the agreements we sign but by the projects we implement, the investments we unlock, and the knowledge we exchange."

During his speech at the Business and Investment Forum, Alibrahim encouraged companies to see Saudi Arabia as more than just a market. He described it as a platform for innovation, stressing that the economic partnership offers growth and expansion opportunities for both countries. This perspective aims to foster a deeper economic relationship between Saudi Arabia and Portugal.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed during this session by the economy ministers. This MoU focuses on economic cooperation as a means to exchange expertise and bolster bilateral economic collaboration. Such agreements are expected to pave the way for future projects that benefit both nations economically.
The committee's activities underscore a commitment to not only formal agreements but also practical implementations that can lead to unlocking investments and exchanging valuable knowledge. These efforts are crucial for fostering long-term partnerships that can drive mutual growth.
This session represents a pivotal moment in Saudi-Portuguese relations, with both countries looking forward to implementing agreed-upon projects. The focus remains on creating sustainable partnerships that can contribute positively to their respective economies.
