Saudi Pavilion Celebrates Sustainability With Coral Reef Project At Expo 2025 Osaka
The Saudi Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka recently hosted a significant event involving King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) and three prominent Japanese universities. This gathering marked the handover of a 3D coral reef project at the World Expo site. As the Expo nears its conclusion, KAUST's Professor Tadd Truscott and his team presented Japan with 3D-printed coral reef structures. These were printed daily during the Expo and installed on the coral wall inside the Sustainable Seas Hall of the Saudi Pavilion.
Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Japan, Dr. Ghazi Binzagr, who also serves as the General Commissioner of the Saudi Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, highlighted this occasion as a testament to the strong friendship and cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Japan. He emphasized that this event not only celebrates Saudi achievements in science and technology but also underscores the importance of international collaboration in tackling global issues like climate change and ocean health.

Dr. Binzagr further noted that through innovation and active partnerships, Saudi Arabia continues to demonstrate global leadership and a strong commitment to protecting marine ecosystems for future generations. The 3D-printed coral reef structures will soon be placed on coral bases off Okinawa and Yoron Islands' coasts, showcasing this commitment.
With just three days left before Expo 2025 Osaka concludes and hands over to Expo 2030 Riyadh, the Saudi Pavilion is preparing an exciting lineup of events.
