Saudi Pavilion Concludes Successful Participation In Athens International Defence And Security Exhibition

The General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI) recently wrapped up its participation at the Athens International Defense and Security Exhibition (DEFEA) in Greece. The event, spanning three days, saw significant global involvement and numerous visitors. Saudi Arabia's presence underscored its prominent role in military industries, aligning with its regional and international aspirations.

During the exhibition, GAMI Governor Eng. Ahmad Al-Ohali engaged in discussions with Major General Ioannis Bouras, Greece's General Director for Defense Investments and Armaments. Their meeting focused on exploring cooperation opportunities and establishing strategic partnerships beneficial to both nations' defense sectors.

Saudi Pavilion Shines at Athens Defence Exhibition

Saudi Arabia aims to localize 50% of its military equipment and service spending by 2030. This goal was highlighted during the DEFEA exhibition, showcasing the Kingdom's advanced technologies in military industries. The Saudi pavilion featured key players like the General Authority for Defense Development (GADD) and Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI).

GADD emphasized its role in developing and localizing defense capabilities. It showcased research cooperation projects and opportunities within the Kingdom. The "JADD" innovation platform was introduced, inviting innovators to submit and develop new concepts in defense technology.

SAMI presented its latest innovations across various divisions at the exhibition. A highlight was a mockup of the SAMI Land Industrial Complex (SLIC), a facility dedicated to advanced manufacturing and logistics for land system solutions. SAMI Advanced Electronics showcased the Hema Surveillance System, which uses AI for military surveillance.

SAMI Aerospace displayed components like the F-15SA Wing and Forward Fuselage, manufactured by SAMI Alsalam Aerospace Industries. These exhibits demonstrated Saudi Arabia's capabilities in aerospace manufacturing and assembly.

Investment Opportunities

GAMI used the exhibition to promote Saudi Arabia's investment environment in military industries. It provided insights into regulatory developments, policies, incentives for investors, and the investor journey. These efforts aim to enhance Saudi Arabia's strategic independence in this sector.

Through its participation, GAMI sought to strengthen international partnerships while opening new avenues for cooperation in military industries. The pavilion highlighted national industrial capabilities across air, naval, land sectors, weapon systems, and defense electronics.

Al-Ohali also held bilateral meetings with senior executives from major Greek and international defense companies. These discussions aimed at exploring cooperation avenues and strengthening bilateral partnerships within the defense industry.

The Saudi pavilion's participation at DEFEA exemplified its leading role in global military industries while aligning with future aspirations both regionally and internationally.
