Saudi Ophthalmology Society Conference 2025 Launches With Participation Of Over 3,000 Specialists
The Saudi Ophthalmology Society Conference 2025, which also marks the First Gulf Ophthalmology Societies Congress, began in Riyadh. The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Masmali, Acting President of King Saud University. Over 3,000 doctors, specialists, and eye care professionals from across the globe are participating.
Dr. Abdulrahman Albloushi, who chairs the conference and leads the Saudi Ophthalmology Society, welcomed attendees. He highlighted that the society organized this event alongside King Saud University's College of Medicine's Department of Ophthalmology. The conference brings together prominent professors and doctors from both local and international institutions.

The conference is a key scientific platform for sharing expertise and discussing recent research in ophthalmology and eye surgery. It aims to boost scientific collaboration for better outcomes for eye patients regionally and globally. The event includes scientific sessions and specialized workshops designed to expand knowledge and encourage innovation in the field.
Participants can engage in more than 50 sessions and review over 500 research papers on various ophthalmology subspecialties. Additionally, around 30 interactive training courses are available, focusing on clinical practices and advanced surgical techniques.
The conference covers advancements in eight major areas of ophthalmology and eye surgery. These include corneal, cataract, refractive surgery; oculoplastic surgery; applications of artificial intelligence in ophthalmology; retinal and vitreous diseases; pediatric ophthalmology; strabismus; glaucoma; neuro-ophthalmology; optometry; and uveitis.
Dr. Albloushi emphasized that these discussions aim to enhance medical cooperation towards a brighter future for eye care patients in the region and beyond. The gathering serves as a vital opportunity for professionals to exchange knowledge on cutting-edge developments in their field.
