Saudi Team Braces For Tough Indonesia Clash In World Cup Qualifiers

The Italian coach of the Saudi national football team, Roberto Mancini, highlighted the challenge posed by tomorrow's match against Indonesia. This game, taking place at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, is part of the first round of the third stage of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Mancini noted that having eight foreign players in the Saudi league benefits local players. It allows them to interact with experienced professionals, aiding their development and increasing their chances to participate. He expressed satisfaction with the current squad, despite a recent loss to the Republic of Korea.

Saudi vs Indonesia: A Key Match

During a press conference held today in Jeddah, Mancini emphasised the significance of tomorrow's match as it marks the beginning of their World Cup qualification journey. He stated: "The Indonesian team has developed significantly over the past ten years and has professional players, but the Saudi team will be fully prepared to win."

Mancini also highlighted player Saud Abdulhamid's move to Roma as a positive step for Saudi players' professional growth. Although he had no direct involvement in Abdulhamid's transfer, he offered advice and stressed that playing abroad is crucial for Saudi players to reach the level of those from Japan, Australia, and Korea.

Meanwhile, player Fahad Al-Muwallad shared his thoughts on the upcoming match. He said: "The first matches in any tournament are challenging, but with this group, we are ready and looking forward to winning and securing the first three points in our journey." Al-Muwallad also expressed pride in coach Mancini's trust in him and noted that representing the national team is a dream for any Saudi player.

Fan Support

Al-Muwallad hopes to see strong fan support during their qualification campaign. He believes that fan presence can significantly boost their performance on the field.

Mancini concluded by expressing hope that more Saudi players will have opportunities to play in Europe. This exposure would help them gain experience and improve their skills, ultimately benefiting the national team.

The match against Indonesia is crucial as it sets the tone for Saudi Arabia's World Cup qualification campaign. The team's preparation and strategy will be put to test as they aim for victory.
