Saudi Media Forum 2026 Advances Kingdom As Regional Hub For Media, Culture And Innovation

The Saudi Media Forum is set to gather journalists, executives, and policymakers from around the world, with discussions focused on the changing global media scene and its impact on Saudi Arabia. This year’s edition aligns with the 10th anniversary of Vision 2030, giving the event added weight as participants review a decade of national transformation.

Organisers position the forum as a key showcase for the Kingdom’s media policies and regulatory reforms, which are designed to build a modern, competitive sector. The gathering highlights how these measures support the digital economy, encourage creative industries, and strengthen Saudi Arabia’s role as a regional hub for media and culture.

Saudi Media Forum 2026 Regional Hub

From its early editions, the Saudi Media Forum has aimed to support Vision 2030 by linking media development to wider economic and cultural goals. The event now functions as a soft-power platform, where Saudi Arabia presents its media achievements and shares experiences with international partners across news, entertainment, and digital content.

The forum underlines how media can shape public understanding of national priorities, including economic diversification and social change. Sessions address the role of artificial intelligence in journalism, the move towards deep storytelling, and new ways to reach audiences in a post-digital environment, where users demand more personalised and reliable information.

The official programme covers a wide set of themes that reflect current global discussions. Panels explore energy transition coverage, sustainable innovation, crisis communication, and the structure of the media and entertainment economy. Other sessions look at investment prospects in Saudi Arabia, digital infrastructure, and how esports influence audience behaviour and media consumption.

One of the central attractions is the expanded Saudi Media Award, which now includes four main tracks and 14 categories. Within the visual and audio content track, organisers have introduced a category for AI-generated work. This is described as the first global professional award dedicated to such content, signalling a new phase for media competitions.

Saudi Media Forum innovation, FOMEX and support programmes

The AI category reflects Saudi Arabia’s intention to integrate artificial intelligence into advanced content creation, while still valuing human creativity. It recognises work that uses algorithms and data tools in responsible ways, encouraging media producers to experiment with new formats while observing professional standards and ethical rules.

Alongside the main programme, the Future of Media Exhibition (FOMEX) brings together government bodies and private companies from Saudi Arabia and abroad. Exhibitors present media technologies and products, creating a setting where visitors can examine tools for production, distribution, analytics, and audience engagement. FOMEX also hosts talks and workshops with international experts.

Several initiatives run under the wider Saudi Media Forum umbrella to support talent and business growth. The Saudi Media Innovation Bootcamp (Saudi MIB) focuses on skills and new ideas, while the SMF GROW UP programme helps emerging media companies. The "Idea Lab" offers space for testing concepts, and the SMF Connect initiative promotes cooperation with international media organisations.

Other projects include the "Forum Spotlight" initiative, which keeps dialogue active between annual editions, and the "Media Ambassadors" programme that trains a new generation of Saudi media professionals. Through these activities, the Saudi Media Forum has moved beyond a once‑yearly conference to become a continuing driver of capacity building, exchange, and collaboration within the Kingdom’s media sector.
