Second Meeting Of The Saudi-Kuwaiti Coordination Council Issues Announcement Of Outcomes
The second meeting of the Saudi-Kuwaiti Coordination Council took place in Kuwait City on Monday. The meeting was chaired by Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, and Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait. The council aims to strengthen cooperation and integration between the two countries in various fields, including politics, security, economics, investment, culture, media, tourism, and social development.During the meeting, both sides emphasized the deep relations between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait and expressed their commitment to enhancing these ties. They discussed the need to explore opportunities for further development and cooperation that align with the aspirations of their leaderships and people. The importance of political cooperation and joint coordination on bilateral, regional, and international levels was also highlighted.The two sides stressed the significance of coordinating positions to serve their mutual interests and ensure security and stability in both countries and the region. They emphasized the need to enhance existing cooperation in combating terrorism and extremism, as well as countering their funding. The completion of bilateral networking between the interior ministries of both nations was commended.Saudi-Kuwaiti cooperation in trade and investment was praised during the meeting. The flow of capital and internal trade between the two countries has facilitated mutual investments in various sectors such as industry, communication, information technology, infrastructure, and real estate development. The completion of railway linkage and technical customs connectivity has further facilitated trade by ensuring the seamless flow of goods.Efforts to strengthen cultural, media, tourism, and social development cooperation were also discussed. This includes registering shared historical files with UNESCO, exchanging cultural programs, enhancing relations between prominent media institutions, and cooperating in media organization, program exchange, news production, and joint TV and radio broadcasting.Cooperation in education was highlighted as well. The two countries have fostered a partnership between their universities, provided scholarships, and facilitated student admissions. Both sides expressed eagerness to enhance relations and cooperation in the fields of health, tourism, and sports.The subcommittee meetings held prior to the main meeting resulted in the approval of 50 initiatives aimed at strengthening cooperation and advancing bilateral relations. The importance of supporting and developing the work of the Council and its subcommittees was emphasized, along with the need for constant coordination to enhance their effectiveness.At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed gratitude for the efforts of the General Secretariat of the Council in facilitating its work. Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, expressed his hope for Saudi Arabia to host the third Council meeting next year.The Saudi-Kuwaiti Coordination Council consists of five subcommittees: the Political, Consular, and Nationals Coordination Committee; the Military and Security Coordination Committee; the Coordination Committee in Culture, Media, Tourism, and Social Development; the Coordination Committee in Energy, Economy, Trade, and Industry; and the Coordination Committee in Investment, Environment, and Infrastructure.
