Saudi And Kuwait News Agencies Sign MoU For Enhanced Media Collaboration
In a significant move towards bolstering media collaboration, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) and the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU). This historic agreement was signed in the presence of high-ranking officials from both nations, including Saudi Minister of Media Salman bin Yousef Al-Dossary and Kuwaiti Minister of Information and Culture Abdurrahman Al-Mutairi.
The inaugural executive meeting to discuss the MoU's implementation saw SPA President Dr. Fahd bin Hassan Al Aqran and KUNA Director-General Dr. Fatima Al-Salem at the forefront. The primary focus was on establishing a robust framework for continuous joint media projects and news exchange, aiming to enhance the quality and reach of content produced by both agencies.

One of the key outcomes of this meeting was the decision to form a dedicated working team. This team's mandate is to oversee the partnership's execution, ensuring that the terms outlined in the MoU translate into tangible benefits for both parties. The collaboration encompasses sharing news reports, photos, and videos, alongside joint media coverage of significant events in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, including the Hajj season.
Moreover, the meeting delved into the development of a joint media training program. This initiative is set to cover various domains, with a special emphasis on artificial intelligence (AI) and strategies to combat misleading news. The program aims to equip media professionals with advanced skills and knowledge, enabling them to navigate the complexities of modern journalism effectively.
The discussion also covered the involvement of relevant entities in this bilateral agreement. This includes embassies, media ministries, and other stakeholders from both countries, ensuring a comprehensive approach to implementing the MoU's objectives.
This partnership between SPA and KUNA marks a significant step forward in fostering media cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. By leveraging each other's strengths, both agencies aim to elevate their content quality and coverage, ultimately benefiting audiences in both countries.
