The Film Commission is set to participate in the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, showcasing the Saudi film "Hijra" in the "Venice Spotlight Competition." This film, crafted by Shahad Ameen, is part of the commission's "Daw" Film Support Program. It underscores Saudi Arabia's dedication to promoting its cultural narratives internationally and supporting emerging creative talents.
Film Commission CEO Abdullah Al-Qahtani expressed pride in their participation at this prestigious event. He stated: "Our participation at the Venice International Film Festival reflects the remarkable progress of Saudi cinema and the dedication of our filmmakers. Through initiatives like the Daw Program, we are enabling a new generation of Saudi storytellers to share authentic narratives with global audiences. We are honored to represent the Kingdom at this prestigious event and look forward to building new partnerships and opportunities for Saudi talent."

The commission plans to host a roundtable titled ‘Young Audiences and Cinemas’ during the festival. This discussion will delve into strategies for engaging younger generations with cinema, drawing from both local and international case studies. The aim is to explore effective ways to captivate young viewers through diverse cinematic experiences.
Additionally, a panel named ‘Making Cinematic Success’ will be presented by the commission. This session will feature Saudi filmmakers who are crafting original stories inspired by local culture while resonating with global audiences. These discussions highlight how Saudi filmmakers are connecting their unique narratives with viewers worldwide.
In conjunction with these events, nine Saudi short films will be screened at the festival venue. These screenings aim to display the diversity of national creative talent and storytelling perspectives within Saudi Arabia. By doing so, they hope to highlight various artistic voices emerging from the Kingdom.
The Daw Program plays a crucial role in empowering Saudi filmmakers by providing them access to international platforms where they can gain critical acclaim. This initiative supports a new generation of storytellers eager to share their authentic narratives on a global stage.
