Saudi Green Initiative Forum 2024 Begins Tomorrow In Riyadh To Address Environmental Challenges

The Saudi Green Initiative (SGI) Forum's fourth edition is set to commence at the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) 16th Conference of the Parties (COP16) Green Zone in Riyadh. Scheduled for December 3-4, this event will gather policymakers, business leaders, and environmental experts from around the globe to address urgent environmental issues.

The forum's theme, "Action is in our nature," highlights its focus on tackling critical topics such as land rehabilitation and carbon emission reduction through innovation. Discussions will also cover financing green transitions for sustainable livelihoods and the role of natural solutions in climate change adaptation. Preserving Saudi Arabia's biodiversity is another key area of focus.

During COP16 in Riyadh, the SGI gallery will be accessible to the public. This exhibition will highlight Saudi Arabia's efforts in emission reduction, afforestation, and environmental protection through interactive displays. The gallery aims to provide insights into initiatives like reducing carbon emissions by 278 million tons annually by 2030 and planting 10 billion trees.

Moreover, the gallery will feature discussions with global experts on the latest trends and innovations in climate and sustainability. These sessions aim to pave the way for a more sustainable future by exploring new ideas and solutions.

Launched by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince in 2021, the Saudi Green Initiative seeks to involve all societal segments in climate action. The initiative aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2060, addressing challenges such as rising temperatures, reduced rainfall, sandstorms, and desertification.
