HRH The Crown Prince Receives German Chancellor In Riyadh For Official Talks

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, held official talks in Riyadh with Federal Republic of Germany Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The discussions focused on Saudi Arabia–Germany bilateral relations, cooperation across multiple sectors, and shared views on current regional and international developments and the efforts addressing them.

The meeting took place on Wednesday at Al-Yamamah Palace, where Chancellor Merz received an official reception ceremony. At the start of the talks, HRH the Crown Prince welcomed the German chancellor to the Kingdom, while Chancellor Merz expressed appreciation for the hospitality and for the opportunity to meet HRH the Crown Prince in Riyadh.

Crown Prince Hosts German Chancellor in Riyadh

During the session, the two leaders reviewed existing Saudi Arabia–Germany collaboration and possible areas to deepen bilateral relations. They considered cooperation in various economic, political, and security fields, and also exchanged views on regional crises and wider global issues. Both sides examined ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at stabilising the region and enhancing coordination between Riyadh and Berlin.

The talks between the Crown Prince and the German chancellor were attended by several senior Saudi officials, reflecting the broad scope of Saudi Arabia–Germany bilateral relations. Representatives included ministers responsible for energy, foreign affairs, culture, commerce, finance, investment, national security, and the National Guard, as well as the Saudi ambassador to Germany, who joined as part of the official delegation.

From the German side, the Crown Prince and the German chancellor were accompanied by senior officials involved in media, diplomacy, and policy. Attendees included Federal Government Spokesperson and Head of the Press and Information Office Stefan Kornelius, German Ambassador to the Kingdom Michael Kindsgrab, Foreign and Security Policy Advisor Dr. Günter Sautter, Economic and Financial Policy Advisor Dr. Levin Holle, and other senior officials.

The overall programme at Al-Yamamah Palace underlined the importance both governments attach to Saudi Arabia–Germany bilateral relations. The formal reception, followed by the detailed talks, pointed to continuing engagement between the two countries. The Saudi Press Agency reported the session concluded late in the evening, at 01:53 local time, corresponding to 22:53 GMT.
