Saudi GCA President Spearheads Delegation At Global SAI20 Meeting In Brazil
The General Court of Audit (GCA) President Dr. Hussam Al-Angari led Saudi Arabia's delegation to the Engagement Group meeting of the Supreme Audit Institutions of the Group of Twenty (G20) member states (SAI20) in Belém, Brazil. The meeting, which began today, aimed to harmonise the work of SAI20 and G20 government institutions.
The focus was on fostering cooperation on common goals such as monitoring sustainable development, social and economic development, and global progress. Best practices and innovative methodologies were emphasised, along with reviewing and discussing cooperation between SAI20 members and the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI).

In his speech, Dr. Al-Angari highlighted that Saudi Arabia has taken significant steps towards a more sustainable future since launching Vision 2030. These steps include initiatives, projects, and activities in environmental, economic, and social fields. He also underscored Saudi Arabia's regional and international efforts in these areas.
Dr. Al-Angari stressed the importance of the pivotal and complementary roles that Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) can play in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of government initiatives related to sustainable development and social and economic development.
The heads of delegations participating in the final statement of the SAI20 meeting also emphasised the endeavours of SAIs in G20 member states. The focus is on developing visions and strategic directions aimed at adopting best professional practices, promoting accountability principles, good governance, and activating the role of SAIs.
As strategic partners with G20 governments, SAIs operate within the framework of responding to relevant international changes. This collaboration aims to ensure that government initiatives are both efficient and effective.
Bilateral Meetings
On the sidelines of the meeting, Dr. Al-Angari held bilateral meetings with heads of counterpart SAIs. These meetings focused on discussing topics of common interest, further enhancing cooperation between different nations' audit institutions.
The GCA's participation in this meeting underscores Saudi Arabia's commitment to sustainable development and good governance on both regional and international levels.
