Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Participates In GCC Ministerial Council Meeting Addressing Regional Issues
Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah took part in the 46th Extraordinary Meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in Kuwait. The meeting focused on regional issues, particularly those involving Syria, Lebanon, and Gaza. Discussions centred on respecting Syria's sovereignty and supporting a political transition that aligns with the Syrian people's aspirations.
The GCC Ministerial Council stressed the importance of maintaining Syria’s independence and territorial integrity. They opposed any external interference in Syria's internal matters. The council supported efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive political transition in Syria, which would meet the aspirations of its people. They also welcomed measures to ensure civilian safety, prevent bloodshed, and preserve state institutions.

The council called for lifting sanctions against Syria to aid its economic recovery. They urged for support to be provided to the Syrian people. Additionally, they condemned Israeli attacks on Syria, including actions in the buffer zone and settlement expansions in the Golan Heights. These were seen as violations of international law and UN resolutions.
The GCC reaffirmed their support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and stability. They highlighted the need for comprehensive political and economic reforms in Lebanon. The council emphasized preventing Lebanon from becoming a base for terrorism or drug smuggling activities that threaten regional security.
They also condemned ongoing Israeli aggressions against Lebanon. The council stressed implementing Security Council resolutions like the Taif Agreement to respect Lebanon’s sovereignty fully. The role of Lebanese security forces was underscored as crucial in addressing these challenges.
Assistance to Palestinian People
The meeting concluded with a strong expression of support for Palestinian rights. The GCC hoped for successful mediation by Qatar, Egypt, and the U.S. to release detainees. They stressed an urgent need for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, lifting blockades, opening crossings unconditionally, and ensuring humanitarian aid delivery.
Significant assistance from GCC countries has been provided to meet Lebanese humanitarian needs. This reflects their commitment to regional stability and support for affected populations.
