Saudi Film Confex 2025 Explores Investment, Intellectual Property, And AI In Film Industry

The Saudi Film Confex 2025 is actively engaging filmmakers and creative talents from both within and outside Saudi Arabia. This event offers a platform that merges creativity with knowledge. The program covers investment, intellectual property (IP), and artificial intelligence (AI) topics, featuring over 60 speakers and trainers across 30 specialised sessions and workshops.

Saudi Film Commission CEO Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Qahtani highlighted the Kingdom's film industry's progress as a result of Saudi Vision 2030. He stated that this vision has helped create an appealing cinematic environment through collaboration between local talent and international partners. "The confex embodies the Kingdom’s commitment to developing an integrated film industry that brings together talent, investors, and partners from around the world," he said.

The Cultural Development Fund is participating with an informative pavilion aimed at entrepreneurs and investors. This pavilion introduces the fund’s programs and investment opportunities while offering advisory sessions to guide film sector professionals. These sessions aim to support project growth and enhance entrepreneurial skills.

Panel discussions on the main stage explore ways to make the film industry more economically appealing for investment. A "Film Talks" session features entrepreneurs who have benefited from the fund, sharing their experiences and insights.

The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property launched an Intellectual Property Guide for the Film Sector during the confex. This guide aims to raise awareness about IP rights among film industry practitioners, promoting creativity while preserving intellectual capital. It supports sustainability within the national film industry by protecting a fair competitive environment.

The guide targets various creative professionals, including photographers, designers, screenwriters, directors, production managers, performers, and audio producers. It covers IP fields in the sector, protection mechanisms, and methods for addressing related infringements and disputes.

Showcasing Creative Projects

An exhibition accompanying the confex showcases five distinguished projects by entrepreneurs. These projects highlight diverse ideas and high production quality within Saudi Arabia's burgeoning film industry.

This event underscores Saudi Arabia's ambition to become a leading hub for film production in the Middle East by bringing together talent, investors, and partners globally.
