World Cup 2034 Energy Readiness At Stadium Led By Saudi Electricity Company
Saudi Electricity Company has finished building a power transmission substation for Aramco Stadium in Al-Khobar. The facility increases supply reliability for the venue. It supports preparations for global sporting events, including the FIFA World Cup 2034.
According to Saudi Electricity Company, the substation will improve power supply during matches and peak periods. The project forms part of an integrated framework focused on high reliability. It supports long-term operational sustainability across strategic projects nationwide.

The scope of work covered construction of a 115/13.8-kV substation serving the stadium. Engineers linked the station to the existing grid through more than 2.4 kilometres of underground cables. The facility includes advanced protection, operating, SCADA and communications systems for precise monitoring and control.
Saudi Electricity Company implemented the project through National Grid SA, the executive arm for Saudi Arabia’s electricity transmission system. Saudi Electricity Project Development Company supervised the work. The company confirmed the substation was completed within 18 months. Delivery met approved technical specifications and regulatory requirements for the national electricity network.
National engineering and technical teams took part in design, implementation and commissioning tests. Their involvement highlights local capabilities in Saudi Arabia’s power transmission sector. Saudi Electricity Company said these projects support development of the transmission system. They also enhance operation of sports and service facilities across Eastern Region.
Saudi Electricity Company linked the completion of the Aramco Stadium substation to national long-term targets. The company said the upgraded infrastructure supports Saudi Arabia’s ambition to host global events to the highest standards. The project also strengthens readiness of energy infrastructure in Al-Khobar and the Eastern Region.
