Saudi Electricity Company And NTPC Sign Strategic Partnership MoU To Enhance Energy Cooperation

The Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) has entered into a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) with India's NTPC Limited to enhance collaboration in the electricity sector. This agreement, overseen by the Ministry of Energy, aims to foster technical expertise exchange and cooperation. The signing took place at the ministry's headquarters in Riyadh, attended by key officials from both countries.

Eng. Abdulrahman AlRehaimi, SEC's Executive Vice President of Generation, and Dr. Jatinder Singh Chandok, NTPC's General Manager and Head of International Business Development, formalised the MoU. The agreement encompasses various areas such as power plant operation, maintenance, modernisation, development, procurement, engineering services, and project management.

SEC and NTPC Sign Energy Cooperation MoU

The partnership also includes initiatives for research and development in modern energy technologies. A joint venture company will be established to provide power plant services across the Middle East. This venture aims to facilitate knowledge exchange and investment in new electricity projects within the region.

SEC is committed to strengthening international partnerships to leverage global expertise for advancing Saudi Arabia's electricity sector. As the largest producer, transmitter, and distributor of electric power in the Middle East and North Africa, SEC serves over 11 million subscribers.

This collaboration with NTPC is part of SEC's broader strategy to enhance international ties. By tapping into global experiences, SEC seeks to support its ongoing development efforts within the Kingdom's electricity sector.

NTPC is one of India's leading government-owned electricity companies with a diverse production capacity of around 77,000 megawatts. Their energy sources include coal, gas, hydroelectricity, wind, and solar power.

The signing ceremony was graced by prominent figures such as Eng. Nasser Al-Qahtani from the Ministry of Energy for Electricity Affairs and Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. SEC CEO Eng. Khalid AlGhamdi was also present during this significant event.

This strategic partnership marks a significant step towards enhancing cooperation between Saudi Arabia and India in the energy sector. It underscores both nations' commitment to advancing their respective electricity industries through shared knowledge and resources.
