Saudi Conference On Universities' Role In Promoting Peaceful Coexistence Launched

Under the auspices of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, a significant international conference was inaugurated by Minister of Education Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benyan. Held on Saturday evening at Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University (IMSIU) in Riyadh, the conference titled "The Role of Universities in Promoting the Values of National Belonging and Peaceful Coexistence" brought together an elite group of scholars, thinkers, and intellectuals. With over 38 international participants and educational entities from across the globe, the event is a strategic part of Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Character Enrichment Program.

The conference aims to foster values of national belonging and peaceful coexistence across six main themes: correct doctrine, national belonging, peaceful coexistence, moderation and temperance, sustainable development, and mechanisms to enhance national belonging. In his address, Al-Benyan expressed his gratitude towards the leadership for their unwavering support of the education sector. He highlighted the conference's role in reinforcing the Kingdom's dedication to fostering a language of partnership and mutual responsibility globally.

Saudi Peaceful Coexistence Conference

Al-Benyan called on universities to take an active role in developing programs that nurture informed citizenship, a strong national identity, and peaceful coexistence. He underscored the necessity of establishing principles of human brotherhood that are grounded in tolerance, coexistence, and respect for diverse values and beliefs. This approach is vital for protecting cultural security, enhancing intellectual awareness, and building resilient communities prepared for conscious future generations.

Furthermore, the minister pointed out that the conference is a significant step towards creating sustainable opportunities. He expressed hope that it would achieve its objectives in demonstrating Saudi Arabia's commitment to spreading moderation and initiating cultural communication and peaceful coexistence. Al-Benyan also emphasized the conference's potential as a scientific resource for universities worldwide to exchange ideas, experiences, and foster cooperation that aligns with the conference's goals.

In addition to Al-Benyan's remarks, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Shanqeeti, the Mufti of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, spoke on the importance of Saudi Arabia's role on the global stage. He praised the Kingdom for its efforts in serving Islam, Muslims, and humanity at large. Al-Shanqeeti highlighted how Saudi Arabia's initiatives contribute significantly to the stability, development, and prosperity of nations worldwide.

This international gathering not only underscores Saudi Arabia's leading position in promoting essential values but also its active role in achieving global peace and security. The conference serves as a testament to the Kingdom's ongoing efforts towards fostering an environment of tolerance and understanding among diverse communities.
