Saudi Development Program Launches Medical Services Support Project In Al-Mahra, Yemen

The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) has initiated a project to bolster emergency medical services in Al-Mahra. This initiative involves delivering four ambulances to enhance the capabilities of local hospitals and health centres. Key figures present at the event included Al-Mahra Governor Mohammed Ali Yasser, SDRPY Al-Mahra Office Director Abdullah Basulaiman, and other local officials.

SDRPY's efforts are part of a broader strategy to support Yemen's health sector through various developmental projects. These initiatives have significantly improved medical services by establishing, equipping, and operating hospitals and health centres. The program also focuses on creating specialized facilities like heart, dialysis, and cancer treatment centres, along with maternal and child health units.

Support for Medical Services in Al-Mahra

In Al-Mahra Governorate, SDRPY has undertaken several developmental projects, including the establishment of the King Salman Medical and Educational City. Spanning 1 million square meters, this city will feature a hospital with 110 beds equipped with advanced medical devices. It will include outpatient clinics, radiology departments, laboratories, endoscopy units, emergency care, intensive care for adults and children, and a maternity ward.

The King Salman Medical and Educational City is expected to play a crucial role in supporting key sectors in Yemen. Once completed, it aims to improve both medical services and educational outcomes in the region. This project is part of SDRPY's commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure across Yemeni governorates.

SDRPY's initiatives in Al-Mahra also include establishing a dialysis centre at Al-Ghaydah Hospital. This facility is equipped with 83 medical devices to support patients requiring dialysis treatment. Additionally, the program has increased the operational capacity of Al-Ghaydah Hospital by setting up an operations unit and an intensive care unit with 134 medical devices.

The program's comprehensive approach extends beyond healthcare. SDRPY has implemented projects across eight key sectors: education, health, water, energy, transportation, agriculture and fisheries, capacity building for the Yemeni government, and developmental programs. These efforts benefit various governorates throughout Yemen.

SDRPY continues to address emergency medical needs through its projects aimed at improving critical care services. By focusing on these areas, the program enhances healthcare delivery for beneficiaries across Yemen.

This ongoing commitment from SDRPY highlights its dedication to improving living conditions in Yemen through strategic development initiatives that address both immediate needs and long-term goals.
