Saudi Initiative Significantly Improves Yemen's Healthcare System
The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) has made notable strides in enhancing Yemen's healthcare system. The Kingdom's efforts focus on sustainable development through various projects and initiatives.
One of the standout projects is the King Salman Medical and Educational City in Al-Mahrah Governorate. This complex spans one million square meters and includes a 110-bed hospital, outpatient clinics, and operating rooms. Another significant project is the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Hospital in Aden, which boasts a 270-bed capacity, 14 specialized clinics, and a heart center.

From January 2023 to June 2024, the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Hospital provided over 1.3 million medical consultations, conducted 8,700 surgeries, and performed 440 heart operations. These figures highlight the hospital's critical role in addressing healthcare needs in Aden.
The SDRPY has also established specialized centers to address specific health issues. The Taiz Cancer Treatment Center and the Hadramout University Hospital and Cancer Treatment Center are key examples. Additionally, the Aden Rehabilitation Center for Disabled Children focuses on providing essential services for children with disabilities.
To improve care for patients with kidney disease, the Al-Mahra Kidney Dialysis Center and the Operations and Intensive Care Center have been implemented. These facilities aim to provide high-quality care for patients requiring dialysis and intensive medical attention.
Upgrading Existing Facilities
In addition to building new facilities, the program has upgraded existing ones. Notable upgrades include Marib General Authority Hospital, the 26th of September Hospital in Marib, and the Aden General Hospital. These improvements ensure that existing healthcare infrastructure meets modern standards.
The collective impact of these initiatives is significant. They have benefited 4,486,847 individuals across nine Yemeni governorates. Moreover, they have supported 26 medical facilities, demonstrating Saudi Arabia's commitment to improving healthcare in Yemen.
The Kingdom's dedication to enhancing Yemen's healthcare system through SDRPY projects underscores its commitment to the well-being of the Yemeni people.
