Saudi Deputy Minister Of Culture Engages With Global Officials To Enhance Cultural Cooperation In Brazil
Eng. Fahad Abdulrahman Alkanaan, Deputy Minister of Culture for International Cultural Relations, engaged with various ministers and officials in Salvador, Brazil. This was during the 5th G20 Culture Ministers' Meeting, representing Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan. Discussions focused on enhancing cultural collaborations between Saudi Arabia and other nations.
Alkanaan met with Claudia Roth, Germany's Minister of State for Culture and the Media. They explored cultural cooperation in areas like art loans, archaeological artifacts, and museum exhibitions. The conversation also covered Saudi participation in the 2024 Frankfurt Book Fair and an executive program with Berlin State Library set for May 2024.

In a meeting with Zhang Zheng, China's Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism, Alkanaan discussed ongoing cultural collaborations under a memorandum signed last March. Plans include establishing the Saudi-China Cultural Year 2025 to deepen cultural ties through events and festivals showcasing both nations' heritage.
The deputy minister also reviewed Saudi Film Commission's participation in this year's Berlin International Film Festival. This involvement highlights Saudi Arabia's commitment to engaging in international cultural platforms and fostering global cultural exchanges.
Alkanaan held discussions with Hannatu Musa Musawa, Nigeria's Minister of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy. They talked about current cultural partnerships involving traveling exhibitions and artistic residencies. Efforts to preserve cultural heritage were also a key topic during their meeting.
These meetings underscore Saudi Arabia's dedication to strengthening international cultural relations. By participating in global events like the G20 Culture Ministers' Meeting, Saudi Arabia aims to foster mutual understanding and collaboration across diverse cultures.
