Saudi Date Exports Surpass SAR 1.695 Billion Amid Significant Global Market Expansion
Saudi Arabia's date exports saw a substantial rise in 2024, reaching SAR1.695 billion, according to the National Center for Palms and Dates. This increase is based on data from the General Authority for Statistics, which also reported that the country's date production surpassed 1.9 million tons that year. The growth highlights Saudi Arabia's strong production capabilities in the palm and date industry.
The Kingdom's dates have expanded their reach to 133 countries worldwide. This expansion represents a 15.9% increase in export value compared to 2023. The rise is attributed to ongoing efforts to improve the quality of Saudi dates and enhance their global marketing presence. These efforts underscore the growing significance of the palm and date sector in strengthening the national economy and diversifying revenue sources.

Since the launch of Vision 2030 in 2016, which focuses on diversifying non-oil revenues, Saudi date exports have transformed significantly. The export value has surged by 192.5% since then, with an annual growth rate of 12.7%. This trajectory highlights Saudi Arabia's success in establishing itself as a leading date exporter globally and emphasizes the role of Saudi dates in promoting global food security.
The Kingdom's leadership has continuously supported the palm and date sector, recognizing its vital role in preserving national heritage and cultural identity. This support has been crucial in achieving such remarkable growth in exports. Additionally, collaboration between date producers, exporters, and government agencies has streamlined export processes and expanded market reach through partnerships with the private sector.
The integrated efforts among various stakeholders have been instrumental in boosting Saudi Arabia's position in international markets. By working together, these entities have facilitated smoother export procedures and increased global market penetration for Saudi dates. Such collaborations have proven effective in enhancing the competitiveness of Saudi dates on a global scale.
This achievement underscores the importance of continuous support from both government and private sectors to maintain momentum in expanding Saudi Arabia's presence in global markets. As a result, Saudi dates continue to play a pivotal role not only economically but also culturally, reinforcing their significance within the Kingdom.
