Crown Prince Reassures On King Salman's Health, Outlines Saudi Initiatives
In a recent address to the nation, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, provided an update on the health of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, following his diagnosis with a lung infection. The King is currently receiving treatment at Al-Salam Palace. The Crown Prince conveyed his prayers for the King’s swift recovery and extended gratitude towards those who have shown concern for the monarch's health.
During the weekly session of the Council of Ministers in Jeddah, chaired by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the discussion covered various topics, including the Crown Prince's participation in the 33rd Arab Summit in Manama, Bahrain. The focus was on Saudi Arabia's role in addressing Arab and regional issues, enhancing regional security, and promoting Arab interests.
Minister of Media Salman Al-Dosary elaborated on the Cabinet's deliberations, highlighting the Kingdom's endeavors to bolster regional and international cooperation, and to fortify bilateral and multilateral partnerships across different sectors with allied nations.
The Cabinet lauded the success of the second ministerial meeting of the Net-Zero Producers Forum, hosted by Saudi Arabia. This event emphasized the Kingdom’s commitment to combating climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The Council also praised the recommendations from the Arab Forum of Anti-Corruption Agencies and Financial Intelligence Units, reflecting Saudi Arabia's dedication to combating money laundering, terrorism financing, and corruption.
Saudi Arabia’s re-election to lead the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) Executive Council for a third term was highlighted as a testament to its influential role in advancing the organization's objectives and impact on the Arab world.
The Crown Prince’s recent visit to the Eastern Province was discussed as an indication of the leadership’s dedication to engaging with citizens and monitoring developmental projects across the nation. Furthermore, the Cabinet celebrated Saudi students' achievements at ISEF and ITEX, underscoring the government's commitment to education, research, and innovation.
Al-Dosary also detailed several Cabinet decisions, including authorizations for the ministers of energy, interior, environment, water and agriculture, and transport and logistics services to discuss and sign memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with respective counterparts in Pakistan, Qatar, Tajikistan, Djibouti, and Costa Rica. These MoUs span a variety of sectors from energy and environmental protection to scientific research and air transport services.
Additionally, the Council approved Saudi Arabia’s accession to the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance and endorsed a model of cooperation in the postal sector. It also authorized agreements to combat terrorism and its financing between the Saudi Presidency of State Security and Pakistan's military intelligence and approved a draft MoU between the Board of Grievances and the US Southern Methodist University focused on research and training. Lastly, a draft MoU with the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) was sanctioned, to be signed by the president of King Faisal University.
