Saudi Coffee Company Launches Sip Of Excellence Competition: Prizes And Eligibility Criteria Revealed
The Saudi Coffee Company, a branch of the Public Investment Fund, has introduced the second edition of the Saudi Sip of Excellence Competition. This event, in collaboration with the Alliance for Coffee Excellence, aims to educate and empower coffee farmers in Saudi Arabia's Southern Region while celebrating their achievements.
Farmers from Jazan, Al-Baha, Mahayil Aseer, and Rijal Almaa will present their coffee crops to a judging panel from the Alliance for Coffee Excellence. This panel includes experts from major coffee-producing nations such as Brazil, Nicaragua, the UK, Canada, Belgium, the US, Australia, and Japan. The competition spans a month during which 25-kilogram samples of green coffee from each participant will be assessed.

The judging panel will select 12 winners from the participating cities. These winners will receive financial prizes totaling SAR240,000. Additionally, they will gain access to new markets through connections with importers, exporters, auctions, exhibitions, and retail outlets. This initiative seeks to showcase Saudi coffee's quality on an international stage.
Farmers interested in joining are invited to submit entry forms along with 1-kilogram coffee samples between January 5 and 9, 2025. Those advancing to the second stage must provide 25-kilogram samples by January 18. The competition comprises three rounds for evaluating the coffee samples.
The first round is set for January 25 and will review and qualify 40 contestants. The second round on January 29 will assess 20 samples. The final round on January 30 will evaluate 12 samples. Winners will be announced at the International Saudi Coffee Exhibition.
This competition not only aims to improve the quality of coffee grown in the Southern Region but also seeks to develop Saudi Arabia's coffee industry further.
