Saudi Civil Aviation Leaders Engage With COMAC For Future Aircraft Manufacturing
On February 24, 2024, a significant event unfolded as a high-level delegation from the Saudi civil aviation sector, led by Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, the President of the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), made a strategic visit to the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC) in Shanghai. This visit included a comprehensive tour of COMAC's assembly lines for the C919 and ARJ21 aircraft and an exploration of the economic zone at Zhongshu Airport in the People’s Republic of China.
The delegation's tour at COMAC's headquarters provided them with a deep dive into the aircraft manufacturing process. They observed firsthand the various stages involved in building an aircraft, from initial design to final assembly. The team was briefed on COMAC's future plans concerning testing and assembly facilities, showcasing the latest technological advancements in aviation.

Moreover, the visit served as an opportunity for the Saudi delegation to understand COMAC's mission and its role in the aviation industry since its inception in 2008. The presentation highlighted COMAC's journey in developing commercial aircraft, emphasizing its design, development, and production responsibilities.
The economic zone at Zhengzhou Airport was another critical point of interest for the delegation. Here, they learned about the operations of specialized companies and institutions focused on developing local manufacturing capabilities. The briefing underscored efforts to foster cooperation with international firms to enhance product quality, boost global competitiveness, and drive technological advancements.
In a significant move towards strengthening bilateral relations, Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, accompanied by vice presidents, CEOs, officials, and aviation experts, engaged in discussions with Sun Shougang, Vice Governor of Henan Province. The meeting focused on exploring mutual interests and identifying opportunities to enhance cooperation in civil aviation between Saudi Arabia and China.
