Saudi Water Authority Organises Saudi-Chinese Water Cooperation Forum In Beijing
The Saudi Water Authority (SWA) hosted the Saudi-Chinese Water Cooperation Forum during the third Asia International Water Week in Beijing, China. This forum aimed to strengthen collaboration between Saudi Arabia and China in the water sector, focusing on investment, development, and innovation opportunities. The event was attended by Abdulrahman bin Ahmed Al-Harbi, the Saudi Ambassador to China, along with representatives from the Ministry of Investment and various water sector entities.
Investment opportunities in the water sector were a key focus at the forum. The Ministry of Investment highlighted available prospects within Saudi Arabia and stressed the importance of global partnerships to advance innovations in the water industry. These partnerships are crucial for addressing significant global challenges related to water management and sustainability.

Chinese companies present at the forum demonstrated modern solutions and green technologies aimed at improving water supply-chain efficiency. They also explored ways to enhance cooperation between Saudi Arabia and China in both water and renewable energy sectors. These discussions underscored the potential for technological advancements to play a pivotal role in future collaborations.
The forum resulted in six agreements being signed to strengthen water partnerships between Saudi Arabia and China. Additionally, nearly 35 presentations were delivered, addressing critical water issues while showcasing best practices, emerging trends, opportunities, and global challenges facing the sector today.
Representatives from Saudi water entities highlighted efforts to localise the water industry within the Kingdom. They discussed initiatives aimed at enhancing innovation in water treatment and reuse processes. Future projects spanning production, transport, distribution, storage, treatment, and reuse were also outlined as part of these efforts.
The forum concluded with a focus on aligning these initiatives with national objectives under Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Water Strategy. By doing so, they aim to contribute significantly towards achieving sustainable development goals within the Kingdom's water sector.
