Saudi Aviation Strategy Emphasises Collaboration And Innovation For Future Growth
Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), emphasised the importance of collaboration and innovation in Saudi Arabia's Aviation Strategy. He highlighted its role in fostering growth, enhancing competitiveness, and improving passenger services. These remarks were made during his participation in the International Air Transport Association's (IATA) Aviation Day Middle East and North Africa (MENA) 2025, hosted by Saudia in Jeddah from May 6 to 7.
Al-Duailej expressed gratitude to IATA and Saudia for organising this significant event. He stressed that such gatherings are crucial for enhancing cooperation and accelerating aviation development in the region. He also underscored the influence of Saudi Vision 2030 on shaping aviation's future both within the Kingdom and globally, aiming to position Saudi Arabia as a key global hub connecting East and West.

The MENA region plays a strategic role in global aviation, supported by a $9.48 trillion economy and a predominantly young population. This demographic fuels tourism, trade, and innovation, driving growth through strategic investments and international partnerships. Al-Duailej noted these factors during his address at the event.
In 2024, passenger traffic in the Middle East surpassed pre-pandemic levels by 9%, more than doubling the global growth rate. Saudi Arabia's civil aviation sector saw an increase of over 24% compared to pre-pandemic figures. These statistics highlight the region's recovery and growth potential in the aviation industry.
Al-Duailej reviewed key milestones in Saudi Arabia's aviation sector strategy. Notably, Saudi carriers have ordered over 500 aircraft, significantly boosting regional capacity and competitiveness. This expansion aligns with the Kingdom's vision to enhance its standing as a major player in global aviation.
Integrated Logistics Zone
The launch of the Integrated Logistics Zone in Riyadh in October 2022 was another significant development highlighted by Al-Duailej. With Apple as a key tenant, this initiative underscores Saudi Arabia's role as a global logistics and commercial hub. The continued operation and development of airports across the country further support this vision.
Al-Duailej expressed eagerness to engage with industry partners at IATA Aviation Day MENA 2025. He aimed to exchange insights, explore emerging opportunities, and strengthen Saudi Arabia’s position as a leading aviation hub. His remarks reflect the Kingdom's commitment to advancing its aviation sector through collaboration and strategic initiatives.
