Saudi Aramco And TGA Launch Marine Examiner Certification Course In Saudi Arabia

In collaboration with the Maritime Training Academy at Saudi Aramco, the Transport General Authority (TGA) recently conducted a 5-day course titled "Examination, Assessment and Certification for Seafarer." This event featured participation from experts and specialists in the maritime transport sector within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as per a TGA news release.

The pilot course, the first of its kind in the Kingdom, aims to qualify experts in the maritime field to certify seafarers. It is designed to meet TGA requirements for accrediting approved examiners to qualify marine seafarers in accordance with the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) 1978, as amended.

The primary objectives of the course are to enhance seafarers' proficiency and skills. This initiative contributes to advancing the maritime transport sector and elevating the quality and standards of maritime training services in Saudi Arabia. The course aims to ensure that seafarers are well-equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge.

The Marine Training Academy at Saudi Aramco received accreditation from the TGA to conduct this course. This accreditation was granted after meeting the prerequisites outlined in the model course and fulfilling the accreditation criteria. The academy is a nationally recognized institute committed to maintaining high standards of professional services in marine training.

Focus Areas

The academy focuses on equipping national talent with essential marine skills. These include ship repair and construction, navigation, marine engineering, and other maritime services. The goal is to prepare emerging national talent for high levels of practical and theoretical proficiency.
