Saudi Arabia Launches Arabic Language Month In China To Strengthen Cultural Bonds

Beijing, SPA – In a significant move to enhance the global outreach of the Arabic language, Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, the Saudi Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language (KSGAAL), has inaugurated the Arabic Language Month program in Beijing and Shanghai. This initiative, running from March 28, is a collaborative effort with several educational institutions aimed at refining Arabic language teaching methodologies, elevating teacher performance, and broadening the language's reach.

The program's agenda is packed with scientific programs and activities, including strategic visits and interactions with Chinese universities that have Arabic academic offerings, as well as engagements with associations and centers dedicated to the Arabic language's propagation in China. Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi, Secretary-General of KSGAAL, highlighted the academy's commitment to promoting the Arabic language on a global scale through such initiatives.

Arabic Language Month Begins in China

A highlight of this cultural exchange is a scientific competition hosted in partnership with Beijing Language and Culture University. This competition is designed for Arabic language learners and encompasses three categories: recitation, storytelling, and Arabic calligraphy. Spanning four weeks—three in Beijing and one in Shanghai—the program also features a scientific symposium, two discussion panels, scientific visits, and four training courses for teachers. These courses are specifically designed to enhance language proficiency skills including listening, speaking, reading, and writing, with a focus on active teaching strategies for Arabic as a second language.

The Arabic Language Month in China is part of KSGAAL's broader "Scientific Programs on Arabic Language Teaching" project. This initiative has seen various iterations across countries like India, Brazil, Uzbekistan, and Indonesia. Through these programs, KSGAAL continues its mission to promote the Arabic language and culture at both linguistic and cultural levels internationally.
