Vision 2030 And Economic Development: Saudi Arabia’s Reputation On The Rise As Global Sentiments Turn Positive

Saudi Arabia has experienced a remarkable improvement in its global image, as detailed in the 5th Edition of the Kingdom Reputation Report by CARMA. This positive change is highlighted by a 25% increase in favorable mainstream media coverage in 2024 compared to the year prior.

Furthermore, since 2020, there has been a significant 55% reduction in negative media portrayals. This shift in perception is substantiated by a survey that included participants from the UK, the USA, India, Singapore, and Russia, with 59% expressing a positive view of the Kingdom and 37% acknowledging that their opinion has become more favorable over the last year.

The transformative Vision 2030 initiative has been a pivotal factor in reshaping the international narrative about Saudi Arabia. In 2024, it was the focus of 60% of all global media content related to the Kingdom, marking the largest proportion to date. This year also saw the economic and social reforms under Vision 2030 gaining more attention than political discussions, a first since the plan's inception.

Saudi Arabia's economic sector witnessed a 77% surge in media attention in 2024, fueled by significant events such as the Future Investment Initiative, LEAP tech conference, and the World Defence Show. Additionally, there's been a 60% increase in media coverage focusing on tourism and entertainment, indicating a resurgence in interest and establishing the Kingdom as an attractive destination.

Despite a 7% decrease in overall media volume on sports, this area still represents 11% of all coverage, underscoring its continued importance. The announcement of Saudi Arabia hosting the 2034 FIFA World Cup has particularly captured international headlines, further enhancing its global connections.

Influential personalities, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, MrBeast, and Elon Musk, have played a significant role in promoting Saudi Arabia's diverse cultural, sports, and entertainment offerings. The nation's leaders have also been spotlighted positively in the global media for their role in initiating reforms, embarking on major projects, and bolstering regional diplomacy.

According to public surveys, 59% of respondents showed interest in visiting Saudi Arabia, 60% would consider conducting business there, and 52% were open to working in the Kingdom.

Analysis Reveals Positive Shift

CARMA's analysis, which employs AI, sentiment tracking, and human interpretation across various media and influential social voices, alongside multi-market public surveys and AI-driven search trends, offers an in-depth look at Saudi Arabia's evolving image.

This positive shift in perception reflects the world's acknowledgement of the Kingdom's concerted efforts towards economic, social, and cultural transformation, particularly through its Vision 2030 initiatives, economic diversification strategies, and increasing soft power.

The Kingdom's focused efforts on reform and innovation have not only reshaped its media portrayal but have also piqued the interest of people worldwide in visiting, doing business with, and working in Saudi Arabia.
