Saudi Arabian Delegation Celebrates Mayoral Leadership At Urban 20 Summit In Rio De Janeiro
A delegation from Saudi Arabia, led by Fahd Al-Rasheed, Advisor to the General Secretariat of the Saudi Arabian Council of Ministers, participated in the 7th Urban 20 Global Summit in Rio de Janeiro. This summit is a key forum for urban development, gathering cities from G20 nations to discuss economic, climate, and development issues globally.
One notable event was a mayoral dinner co-hosted by Al-Rasheed and Eduardo Paes, Mayor of Rio de Janeiro and Chair of this year's Urban 20. The dinner brought together over 100 city leaders, including mayors from Paris, Pretoria, Helsinki, and Phoenix. This gathering celebrated the influence of mayors on their cities.

The dinner also included representatives from multinational organisations like UN-Habitat's Executive Director Anaclلudia Rossbach. It was the first time an international delegation hosted such an event at the Urban 20. Al-Rasheed highlighted the importance of mayoral leadership in addressing future trends and improving citizens' lives.
Al-Rasheed stated, "Mayoral leadership calls for a unique combination of abilities to anticipate and navigate future trends, including technological disruptions, economic shifts, and demographic changes, while demonstrating the social sensitivity to care for and improve citizens’ daily lives."
