Saudi Arabia has been recognised as the world’s most connected country in terms of its extensive road network, according to Eng. Saleh Al-Jasser, the Minister of Transport and Logistics. During the launch of the 'Safe distinguished roads' campaign in Riyadh, Al-Jasser highlighted the Kingdom's significant achievements in reducing serious accidents, fatalities, and injuries by over 50% in recent years.
This year marks the fourth consecutive year of the campaign, which aims to enhance the efficiency and safety of the nation's long road network, alongside offering top-notch services for road users. The initiative has notably improved the quality, safety, and user experience on roads, reflecting the Kingdom's commitment to road excellence and connectivity facilitated by substantial investments over decades.
Engineering advancements aimed at quality enhancement, intersection upgrades, black spot management, and safety investments, are identified as key contributors to the dramatic decline in road-related mishaps. Furthermore, Saudi also aligns with the United Nations' goal to halve accident death rates by 2030.
The Kingdom has also made significant national investments aimed at elevating roads to exemplary standards. In fact, within three years, the Kingdom has achieved a road quality rating of 5.7, marking a significant stride towards the 2030 objective.
The "Safe distinguished roads" campaign not only underscores the Kingdom's dedication to road safety and quality but also sets a precedent for achieving global road safety targets well ahead of UN-set deadlines. Saudi Arabia To Build Major 136km Highway
