Saudi Arabia Secures 12 Medals At The 3rd Asian Youth Games In Bahrain
Saudi athletes showcased remarkable skills at the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain, 2025. They secured a total of 12 medals, comprising three golds, four silvers, and five bronzes. This achievement placed Saudi Arabia in 10th position overall amid fierce competition across various sports.
Player Tala Al-Mazrou made history by winning a gold medal in eFootball within the esports category. She became the first Saudi female athlete to achieve this feat at the Asian Youth Games. Al-Mazrou advanced to the final after defeating a Laotian player with scores of 2-1 and 3-0 in the semifinals. In the final, she triumphed over her Thai opponent with scores of 3-0, 1-0, and 3-1.

Weightlifter Mohammed Al-Ajyan added to Saudi Arabia's medal count by securing silver in the 56-kilogram category. He lifted an impressive 138 kilograms. The gold medal was claimed by a Chinese lifter who lifted 141 kilograms, while a Philippine athlete took bronze with a lift of 137 kilograms.
In Muay Thai, Almoatasim bin Salem contributed to Saudi Arabia’s tally by winning bronze in the 57-kilogram category on Saturday. His performance further boosted the Kingdom's overall medal count at the games.
The Saudi handball team maintained its strong form throughout the tournament. They defeated Bahrain with a score of 33-27, topping their group with an unbeaten record. Earlier victories included wins over Maldives (71-7), Jordan (13-11), and Hong Kong (43-16).
In basketball, Saudi Arabia's 3x3 team progressed to the quarterfinals after close victories against Sri Lanka (17-16) and Yemen (16-11). Meanwhile, the U-17 futsal team ended its participation with a commendable win over Kyrgyzstan (3-1), finishing third in their group that also featured Iran and Thailand.
The achievements of these athletes highlight Saudi Arabia's growing prowess in international sports competitions. Their performances not only brought pride to their nation but also set new benchmarks for future participants from the Kingdom.
