Saudi Arabia Sees Surge In POS Transactions Totaling SAR 12 Billion
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia saw a significant increase in point-of-sale (POS) transactions during the week of June 23 to 29. The total number of transactions reached 189,693,000, with a value of SAR12,349,544,000. This is a notable rise from SAR8,343,012,000 recorded for the same period last year.
In the clothing and footwear sector, there were 5,306,000 transactions amounting to SAR717,162,000. For construction and building materials, the number was 1,460,000 transactions valued at SAR328,516,000. The education sector saw 100,000 transactions worth SAR99,064,000.

Gasoline stations recorded 14,976,000 transactions with a value of SAR834,527,000. Health-related transactions numbered 7,519,000 and were valued at SAR801,254,000. In the furniture sector, there were 1,101,000 transactions totalling SAR276,319,000.
The electronics and electric devices sector had 1,185,000 transactions worth SAR220,385,000. Hotels saw 675,000 transactions valued at SAR220,379,000. Public utilities recorded 959,000 transactions amounting to SAR72,410,000.
Jewelry transactions numbered 206,000 with a value of SAR240048000. Miscellaneous goods and services had the highest number of transactions at 23.124 million worth SAR1.606 billion. Recreation and culture sectors saw 1.965 million transactions valued at SAR257753 million.
Food and Beverage Sector
Restaurants and cafes experienced the highest transaction volume with 52.937 million worth SAR1.806 billion. The beverage and food sector followed closely with 44.245 million transactions valued at SAR1.887 billion.
Telecommunication recorded 1.437 million transactions worth SAR116483 million while transportation had 2.772 million valued at SAR790057 million. Other sectors combined saw a total of 29.774 million transactions amounting to SAR2075654 million.
City-wise POS Transactions
Riyadh led with 56.721 million POS transactions valued at SAR3.969 billion. Jeddah followed with 21.931 million worth SAR1.710 billion while Dammam recorded 7.252 million valued at SAR580418 thousand.
