Saudi Arabia To Experience Continued Rainfall Through April, NCM Forecasts
The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) in Saudi Arabia has issued a forecast indicating that the rainy weather conditions currently affecting various regions of the country are set to persist until the end of April. According to NCM spokesman, Hussein Al-Qahtani, the spring season is expected to bring continued rainfall, particularly in the northern, eastern, and central regions of the Kingdom.
Al-Qahtani highlighted that a distinctive feature of this period is the presence of active winds, which can either accompany rainstorms or manifest as normal winds stirring up dust across these areas. He also noted significant temperature fluctuations in the coming days, with an instance recorded at the Manifa Center in Khafji governorate where rainfall exceeded 42 mm within just 60 minutes.
In response to the adverse weather conditions, the Eastern Province Municipality, in collaboration with the region's Traffic Department, took proactive measures on Monday evening to ensure public safety. This included the temporary closure of tunnels on King Fahd Road in Dammam due to the combination of severe rainfall and strong winds. The statement from the municipality emphasized that the closure is a precautionary step aimed at protecting motorists and that the tunnels will be reopened once the weather conditions have stabilized.
This series of weather events and the subsequent administrative actions underscore the impact of spring season conditions on the Kingdom's infrastructure and the measures being taken to safeguard residents against potential hazards. As Saudi Arabia continues to experience this variable weather, authorities remain vigilant, monitoring developments and responding proactively to ensure public safety.
