The Saudi Water Authority (SWA) is actively participating in the third Asia International Water Week (AIWW) in Beijing, China, from September 24 to 28. This event highlights Saudi Arabia's leadership in water resource management. Eng. Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al-Abdulkarim, SWA President, heads the delegation representing the Kingdom's water system at this triennial gathering.

Saudi Arabia aims to strengthen collaboration and share best practices in the water sector through its involvement. The delegation includes representatives from various organisations such as the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, the National Water Company (NWC), and others. Their participation underscores Saudi Arabia's commitment to addressing global water challenges and promoting environmental sustainability.

Saudi Arabia Showcases Water Management at AIWW

At AIWW, SWA plans to elevate water-related issues on the global agenda. The Kingdom's efforts are focused on highlighting its role in tackling these challenges while advancing the global water sector. A notable development was last year's announcement by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud about establishing a global water organisation in Riyadh.

This initiative aims to coordinate efforts among countries and organisations to effectively address water challenges worldwide. Saudi Arabia has leveraged decades of experience in water production, transportation, and technological innovation, becoming the largest producer of desalinated water globally.

The Saudi delegation will present its pioneering role in managing water resources through sessions, workshops, and a dedicated pavilion at AIWW. They aim to inspire the adoption of innovative methods to improve efficiency in the water sector. Additionally, they seek to foster stronger bilateral relationships and partnerships within this field.

SWA is also focused on empowering the private sector by developing water projects and attracting investments aligned with Saudi Vision 2030's sustainable development goals. Discussions with Chinese firms specialising in artificial intelligence applications and water services management solutions will further promote innovation.

Parallel activities during AIWW include meetings aimed at strengthening strategic partnerships and encouraging technological advancements in the water sector. These discussions are part of SWA's broader strategy to enhance cooperation with international partners.

The Kingdom's participation at AIWW reflects its dedication to leading global efforts in sustainable water management. By sharing its expertise and fostering collaborations, Saudi Arabia continues to play a vital role in addressing pressing global water issues.
