Saudi Arabia Achieves Key Milestones In Vision 2030 With Focus On Workplace Safety And Environment

Saudi Arabia has made notable strides in realising its Vision 2030 objectives, with Vice Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Eng. Mansour Al Mushaiti reporting that 93% of annual indicators have been met. Additionally, 85% of initiatives are either completed or progressing well. This progress underscores the Kingdom's dedication to sustainability and worker safety across development projects.

At the Global Occupational Safety and Health Conference in Riyadh from May 4 to 6, Al Mushaiti highlighted the Kingdom's emphasis on human capital. He pointed out the creation of the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health and the adoption of international best practices as evidence of this focus.

Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030: Workplace Safety Progress

The Saudi Green Initiative has played a crucial role in environmental conservation efforts. It has led to the planting of over 141 million trees throughout various regions in Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, more than 313,000 hectares of degraded land have been rehabilitated, while over 4 million hectares are now under protection.

In major cities, a noise and light pollution monitoring program is underway. According to the World Green Building Council, this initiative could lead to productivity gains exceeding 11%. These efforts contribute significantly to creating safer and more sustainable work environments.

The water sector has achieved over 190 million safe work hours with a response time under 45 seconds during large-scale project implementations. Notably, there have been no serious incidents reported, thanks to effective safety management systems.

"These environmental advancements enhance the safety and health of workers and foster safer, more sustainable work environments," said Al Mushaiti. The commitment to robust safety protocols ensures that worker welfare remains a top priority in all projects.

Agricultural Standards and Practices

In agriculture, Al Mushaiti confirmed that the ministry has adopted Saudi Good Agricultural Practices (G.A.P) standards. Currently, 142 facilities have received accreditation for adhering to safe practices. Advanced pesticide control systems and smart awareness platforms have successfully reduced pesticide residues to below 2%.

The Kingdom's focus on sustainability extends beyond agriculture into broader environmental protection efforts. These initiatives not only safeguard natural resources but also promote healthier living conditions for all residents.

Overall, these achievements reflect Saudi Arabia's commitment to improving occupational safety and environmental sustainability as part of its Vision 2030 goals. The ongoing efforts demonstrate a comprehensive approach towards enhancing both human capital development and ecological conservation within the country.
