Saudi Arabia And US Sign Key Agreement To Advance Space Exploration
Saudi Arabia and the United States have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to explore and use outer space peacefully, according to the Saudi Space Agency. This agreement is a result of the support from His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Supreme Space Council, and efforts to strengthen ties between the two nations.
The agreement aims to boost collaboration in space and scientific exploration, increase joint investments in commercial activities, and create a legal framework for cooperation. It covers areas such as space and earth sciences, aeronautics, space missions, education, and other mutual interests. This partnership is expected to enhance national capabilities in these fields.

Abdullah Alswaha, Chairman of the Saudi Space Agency, remarked that "the agreement represents a turning point in the Kingdom’s journey towards building a strong and prosperous space sector." He highlighted that it shows Saudi Arabia's commitment to innovation in space and its efforts to become a significant global partner in space exploration.
Dr. Mohammed Altamimi, CEO of the Saudi Space Agency, emphasized the importance of this partnership in identifying mutual interests and fostering collaborative projects. He stated that by leveraging available opportunities, Saudi Arabia aims to achieve scientific progress and strengthen its role in the regional and global space industry.
NASA Administrator Bill Nelson expressed his enthusiasm for enhancing cooperation with Saudi Arabia. He said: "Building on my visit to Saudi Arabia earlier this year, I look forward to strengthening our cooperation for the future of exploration. We are living in the golden era of exploration – one that is rooted in partnership. This new agreement outlines how we will work together and explore together for the benefit of humanity."
Collaborative Programs
The agreement was signed by Dr. Mohammed Altamimi and Bill Nelson. It includes collaborative programs such as flight operations, balloon campaigns, scientific data exchange, joint workshops, and more. These initiatives aim to solidify future cooperation between the two countries.
The Saudi Space Agency noted that this step would enhance Saudi Arabia’s role as a key player in both regional and global space industries. The Kingdom's leadership recognizes the space sector as a potential trillion-dollar economy that stimulates innovation and inspires future generations.
