Saudi Arabia And Ukraine Issue Joint Statement On Strengthening Economic Ties And Enhancing Trade Volume
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Ukraine have praised their robust economic connections and highlighted the need for collaborative efforts to boost trade. Both nations are looking forward to the reestablishment of the Saudi-Ukrainian Business Council in 2025. This was part of a joint statement following Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to Saudi Arabia.
During President Zelenskyy's visit, he met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah. They discussed enhancing relations across various sectors. The leaders acknowledged the strong economic ties, noting a 9% growth in trade exchange in 2024. They emphasized overcoming challenges in trade development and fostering mutual visits and investment delegations.

The two countries aim to create promising investment partnerships in key sectors like energy, food industries, and infrastructure. They support continuous communication between public and private sectors through workshops, joint forums, and events. This approach aims to empower the private sector, create an investment-friendly environment, and address investor challenges.
Both sides expressed interest in exploring cooperation opportunities in oil, gas, petrochemicals, agriculture, and food security. They agreed on expanding private sector involvement through investment partnerships in agriculture and food industries. This collaboration aims to enhance agricultural cooperation and ensure food security.
President Zelenskyy congratulated Saudi Arabia on winning bids to host World Expo 2030 and FIFA World Cup 2034. The leaders also discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern, emphasizing cooperation and coordination on these matters.
Efforts for Peace and Humanitarian Aid
The discussions included efforts for lasting peace in Ukraine. Saudi Arabia hopes these efforts will end the war according to international law and UN principles. This includes respecting sovereignty, borders, ensuring nuclear safety, food security, environmental protection, and demining territories.
The Ukrainian side appreciated Saudi Arabia's humanitarian aid to Ukraine. At the visit's end, President Zelenskyy thanked the Crown Prince for his hospitality towards him and his delegation. He wished prosperity for the Saudi people while the Crown Prince reciprocated with well wishes for Ukraine's progress.
