Saudi Arabia And UK Discuss SDGs In Strategic Aid Dialogue Roundtable
Riyadh, May 07, 2024 - In a significant step towards enhancing international development and humanitarian aid, Saudi Arabia and Britain convened for the second Strategic Aid Dialogue's high-level session. This pivotal meeting, hosted at the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) in Riyadh, focused on the roadmap for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Dr. Hana Omar, Director of Community Support and Acting Director of International Relations and Partnerships at KSrelief, chaired the third roundtable meeting.
The gathering saw the participation of key figures from both nations. On the Saudi side, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), and the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) were present. The British delegation was led by Melinda Bohannon, Director General of Humanitarian and Development at the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), accompanied by several officials.

The session aimed to foster discussions on accelerating progress towards the SDGs. Participants engaged in a productive exchange of views and methodologies, pinpointing challenges that hinder achieving these goals. A significant outcome was the mutual agreement on prioritizing SDGs that are crucial to Saudi-British cooperation. Additionally, the meeting opened avenues for exploring development cooperation opportunities to further the achievement of the SDGs.
