Saudi Arabia Bolsters Strategic Partnership With UK In Digital Government
The Governor of the Digital Government Authority (DGA) and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), Eng. Ahmed Mohammed Al-Suwaiyan, recently wrapped up a significant visit to the United Kingdom. This trip was marked by a series of high-level meetings with leaders and officials from both the public and private sectors, aimed at bolstering Saudi Arabia's ties with the UK in the digital economy sphere and exchanging global insights on digital governance.
During his stay, Eng. Al-Suwaiyan took part in the Annual 21st Middle East and North Africa Conference, where he delivered a keynote speech. His presentation underscored Saudi Arabia's advanced position in digital transformation, sharing the Kingdom's achievements and successful strategies in digital governance. The goal was to share knowledge and experiences in this vital area, showcasing Saudi Arabia as a model for digital excellence.

Key discussions were held with notable UK officials including Alex Burghart, Parliamentary Secretary for the British Cabinet Office; Julia Lopez, British Minister for Data and Digital Infrastructure; and Saqib Bhatti, Minister for Technology and the Digital Economy. These meetings focused on deepening the strategic partnership in digital governance between Saudi Arabia and the UK. Eng. Al-Suwaiyan's engagements aimed at exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation and sharing best practices in digital government services.
The Saudi Ambassador to the UK, Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, also hosted Eng. Al-Suwaiyan and his delegation at the embassy. This meeting reviewed the DGA's initiatives in advancing digital government services and discussed strategies to further collaboration.
Furthermore, Eng. Al-Suwaiyan met with Dr. Amal bint Jameel Fatani, the Saudi Cultural Attaché in the UK, and engaged with a group of Saudi scholarship students at the Saudi Cultural Mission in London. These interactions focused on discussing leading digital transformation initiatives, strategic directions for digital governance, and addressing challenges faced by students in accessing digital government services. The aim was to enhance their digital experience and ensure services align with their needs and expectations.
